CLEAN by Peter Hobday – Finding answers isn’t always easy and sometimes a toothbrush has too much importance.
MONTGOMERY by Roger Goldsmith – Montgomery is a desk clerk in a classy hotel stuck in routine. Will he escape his monotonous lifestyle for something, well…different?!
PUSH UP DAISIES by Kudzi Hudson – Perhaps, in death there is no benevolence, no peace, no wonderful interiors; just God and her cronies looking to liven up an eternity.
SKYLINE by David Bottomley – Property developer, Jasper, is seducing MP, Francesca into signing off planning permission for radical high-rise developments in the regeneration of Soho.
Having received over 100 submissions from writers across the UK, First Draft and The Hope Theatre’s team of readers selected 4 short plays to be rehearsed over 3 days under the direction of Artistic Director Matthew Parker before presenting them in a quadruple bill over 3 nights as ‘scratch’ performance. The result is a diverse mixture of exciting, energetic and compelling pieces of fresh work and a glimpse into the genesis of a theatrical idea. The audience is an integral part of the process and First Draft look forward to welcoming you to The Hope Theatre for Summer Showers to enjoy and be a part of the journey for new writing.
